The upcoming years for the Cathay Post #384 will be one of the most exhilarating and influential of its 73 years.
Within the past year, the Cathay Post #384 has proven to be the most active non-profit American Legion veteran group in California. The Cathay Post #384 is made up of veterans who have served in WWII, Korean War, and Vietnam War and of volunteers who devote their time to community service and outreach activities. Through their community outreach and activism, city officials, federal politicians, media, and the general public have gained a greater understanding of these Veterans. Some notable events the Cathay Post #384 have been the hosting of San Francisco's Chinatown mayoral election debate, the re-dedication of the St. Mary's Square bronze plaque of fallen Chinese-American veterans, fundraising dinners and the recognition of outstanding police officers and firefighters. All these events have made this organization a community treasure. Throughout these activities, the Cathay Post #384 continues to educate and honor the service of Chinese-Americans in the U.S. military. The Cathay Post #384's goal is to create the first Chinese American Veterans Memorial Museum Gallery in the nation.
